Product Design & Tooling

In a consumer-driven environment distinctive packaging is vital, and Plas-Pak (WA) offers unrivalled expertise in developing packaging solutions for markets where quality and style are critical to a product’s success.  Plas-Pak’s Design Team has market-leading expertise and has created custom solutions for a wide range of products.  We can work from your own drawings or an Industrial Designer/Engineer using Computer Aided Design (CAD) will work with you to create new ideas to your own specification.

Once the product design has been approved, tooling (mould making) can commence. Moulds are made by an experienced mould maker (or toolmaker) from metal, usually either steel or aluminium, and precision-machined to form the features of the desired part. As tooling is a costly investment, we are happy to offer a range of flexible funding methods which include:

• Outright purchase and ownership
• Amortisation over an agreed period
• Part ownership with limited period of exclusivity

Blow Moulding

Plastic blow moulding is a manufacturing process by which hollow plastic parts are formed.  At Plas-Pak, we use the process of Extrusion blow moulding to manufacture our containers. In the process of Extrusion Blow moulding, plastic is melted and extruded into a hollow tube (a parison). This parison is then captured by closing it into a cooled metal mould. Air is then blown into the parison, inflating it into the shape of the hollow bottle, container or part. After the plastic has cooled sufficiently, the mould is opened and the part is ejected.

Our blow moulded Products:

• Range in volume from 50ml to 10litres
• Can be manufactured in HDPE, LDPE or PVC
• Can be manufactured in your choice of colour. We can colour match and mould products in any colour of your choice, including pearlescents and metallics.
• Can be manufactured to order, but we do ask for minimum order quantity of 2500 units to avoid a set-up fee if the product is not a stock item. (Explore our product range to see the standard packaging options that we can supply and manufacture)

Other Services

At Plas-Pak we strive to be more than a supplier to our customers, we want to be a partner that can work with you to offer a complete solution that will solve any issues relating to the supply of your packaging. Below are some of the areas where we can add value to the supply of your products:

Assembly
We partner with a local, non-profit, charitable organisation that provides work opportunities for people with disabilities to assemble those products that require assembly.

Labelling
We provide a labelling service to those customers who prefer to have their containers ‘ready-to-fill’ when they are delivered to their premises. In addition,

Outer Packaging
We can pack product into your own cartons.

Stockholding
We have a range of off-the-shelf products that we keep in stock and we even hold stock by agreement with some of our customers who have restricted warehouse capacity.

Delivery
We deliver any order over the value of $300 free-of-charge to the local, Perth-Metropolitan area. We also offer competitive rates for deliveries to any other state in Australia – or overseas.
